Senior Civil Engineer (Highway) Contract role

Contract role - ££/ hour (dependent on Experience): - Initial 7 months Contract.

TGSR is looking to hire an experienced Senior Civil Engineer on behalf of a high profile client on an extendable contract basis.


Person Specification

  • Have Civil Engineer (CEng) degree with Chartered status
  • Be experienced highways engineer having both design and management experience with good understanding of the design process, including delivery of design under Design and Build projects
  • Must have strong technical skills to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of international highways standards; specifically DMRB, and AASHTO preferably
  • Be able to demonstrate a proven track record in delivering technically complex major highway schemes
  • Have an excellent knowledge and experience of applying relevant highway design codes (e.g. DMRB)
  • Have excellent knowledge in the application of 3D highway design software packages (e.g. InRoads, MX)
  • Be able to work independently and proactively on technical aspects of highways works, overseeing the technical input on significant projects
  • Possess ability in construction contract and specification preparation
  • Be able to liaise with external parties, as primary contact
  • Previous experience of dealing with Highways England would be an advantage.



  • Deliver technically complex major highway schemes, and apply relevant highway design codes (e.g. DMRB).
  • Plan and manage technical delivery of projects, including adequacy of design compliance with standards and legislation, resource time, cost and quality
  • Apply 3D highway design software packages (e.g. InRoads, MX)
  • Management and procedures for aspects of design solutions not covered by standards or Departures from Standards
  • Preparation of high quality technical responses to pre-qualification responses, proposals and tenders
  • Be able to liaise with multi-disciplinary teams, and a broad knowledge of environmental ‘issues’ for highway schemes would be expected.
  • Consultation, negotiations and meet with third party authorities
